Immigration on EU nationals within the EU is rather straightforward but in many cases their spouse can be a third country national. What does the Estonian law say about the immigration rules in this case?
Firstly, the EU citizen spouse needs to have the residence registered in Estonia.
Secondly, one of the following conditions has to be met for the EU national spouse:
they are employed in Estonia or acting as a sole proprietor. they can be employed in the own company;
they have enough financial means to take care of them and their spouse and they are holding a valid health insurance or
they are studying in Estonia and have enough financial means to support them and their spouse and they hold a valid health insurance.
The residence right is given for up to 5 years and after 5 years of residing they can apply for permanent residency.
