Right of stay during residence permit processing in Estonia

This is a topic that has caused confusion and the regulations regarding the right of stay during the processing of residence permit application can be very different from country to country.

Firstly, there is a "grace period" of 90 days after the expiry of your residence permit but only if it ends due to the end of term (and is not terminated by the Police).

Additionally - if the applicant applies for an extension or a new permit during the validity of the current permit, his or her stay is legal for the duration of the processing of the new application.
